Video driverĀ ATI Mobility-M for Windows XP – ThinkPad A20m, A21e,
ok so i just rebuilt my pc from scratch other then my old hard drives.
i went from a 2.2 amd single core, asus mobo with 2g dual channel ram and a 7300gt nvidia card up to a 2.9 amd dual core with 4g of ram and a 9800gt nvidi xfx gcard and 600 watt power supply to cover everything, not over clocking im sittng at 29deg idling and in higher games like nfs undercover and fallout3 on full graphics it hits about 50 but its also kinda hot in my house due to it being winter.
when i open more then one game like 2 copies of wow which i used to do on my old setup the graphics on the games go kinda wierd like when u see the ground go missing or a creatures face, it never used to do this any ideas. gcard drivers are up to date, and so are the bios for the mobo, but other then that most everything else shouldnt rly effect that i wouldnt think.
I currently get about 24FPS on Average based on the benchmark that GTA IV gives me when I run it, but I want to run the game at a higher FPS, obviously. I mean, it’s quite shifty and not smooth at all. My current system specs are below, and I believe I’d either need to upgrade my video card, processor, or both. Thanks for the help.
-512MB 8800GT
-4GB’s 800MHz DDR2 RAM
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz
-Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and Windows XP Professional 64-bit
-250GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive (Plenty of space left)
-22x DVD Drive
Think that’s really all that’d make a difference to the game. Wondering what specs I should upgrade to make the game run faster. You think a 512MB 9800GT would give me much of a difference, or could you recommend a different card if you don’t think that one will be powerful enough (to play at 40fps minimum), or do you think I’d see an improvement if I upgrade my processor to a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ 3.2GHz, or an AMD Phenom 2.4GHz, or is there a different processor you’d recommend? (Must be AMD AM2/AM2+)
Pretty sure it’s one of those two I’d need to upgrade, and thinking it’s the graphic’s card more than anything. So, you think a 9800GT would do the trick, or would I need an even better card?
Thanks for the help.
Also, if this is any help, these are my benchmark results from GTA IV.
