Hp Deskjet 600 Printer. Can It Operate On A Laptop?
I have an old HP Deskjet 600 printer and it worked perfectly with my old desktop computer. The connection was with a parallel/parallel cable and I was using Windows ME. I now have a new laptop with no parallel port, only USB ports and run on Windows XP. I have bought a parallel/USB cable but I am having trouble finding a driver. Is what I’m doing possible or is it a lost cause?

Drivers you need are at the above link
I think you’re bound to spend more money on cables, adapters and drivers (and time) than on a new $50 printer. Remember, the printer manufacturers are selling ink, not printers. Check Craig’s List for inexpensive printers in your area.
Have you checked HP’s website? XP may have built-in drivers as well– I’ve got a HP 5L laserjet and it’s easily ten years old… You may have to go to the printers area under Control Panel and “add a new printer” to find if XP has a driver.
If all else fails, check the HCL (hardware compatability list) within XP.
