This is probably more computer than you need but I do question the quality of DELL.
I am advised by a friend in the computing industry that HP is a better quality for a simiilar price.
Micheal Dell is in the Forbs top ten list of richest man in the world, who did he rip off to get there

This doesn't have anything to do with the spec or anything but I have heard that dell laptops are highly unreliable, the keyboards break easily and they always have a fault outside the warranty. All my friends who have had one have had faults and my local computer repair man detests the machines, says they are a waste of money.

This looks like a pretty decent configuration. Here are a few things I would consider:
1) No Bluetooth - I'm listening to my music using my Bluetooth headphones and I love them. You can use wired headphones, or even wireless headphones that have a transmitter that plugs into the jack on the laptop, but there's nothing like Bluetooth. See if it's an option, and if you think it's worth it, I'd have them install one at the factory.
2) I wasn't sure which one you chose here, but the 320GB 5400 RPM hard drive is decent in size, although a little slow. If you'll be using this as your desktop replacement for music, videos, graphic design, photography or anything space-intensive, you might want to consider a larger (500GB) drive, and possibly with a speed of 7200 RPM rather than 5400 RPM.
3) Depending on how you will be using this laptop, consider the 3 year warranty if available, especially if you'll be carrying it around a lot. The more you use the laptop, the more wear and tear the system will experience - both inside and out. The 1 year warranty is okay, but the 3 year might give you better service - say, on-site rather than mail-in, which could save you time and effort when you have a problem. The accidental damage is only important if you think you might be prone to dropping your laptop or something. Read the terms and conditions of this warranty if you do choose to buy it, as some of them only cover certain accidents - and may cost so much that it's better to not spend the money. Consider the cost of replacing the whole laptop a year down the road, versus the cost of the additional warranty and accidental damage insurance.
4) Nice sized screen, perfect for almost all general work, lightweight gaming and watching movies. You may find that you want a larger (17"-21") LCD monitor to dock this, and I'm sure it has a VGA or HDMI connector.
5) This system has a really good video card, which appears to have decent and dedicated memory - half a gigabyte which is great! You could probably run games pretty well on this - of course you may wish to have a larger screen depending on what you want to play.
6) Good choice of operating system - although you'll probably want to upgrade to Windows 7 at some point. Have a computer friend clean-up
some of the extra stuff that's loaded with Vista and you'll get a snappier response, although the specs on this model are so good, you may not have to clean-up much.
7) 6GB of memory is great, and will help with the extra "crud" that Vista runs, such as Aero, the Sidebar and the other stuff. Do a Google search for "clean up Vista" and find a few safe checklists to make this computer run even faster.
8) Office 2007, especially this version, has about everything you'll need.
Sounds like you picked a good unit. I didn't see a price, but I'm certain that it'll be reasonable-ish with Dell.
Edit: Someone mentioned questionable reliability with Dell, and all I can say is, in the US, Dell has been known - especially at the mid- to high-end of the product lines - to be exceptionally reliable overall. If you get a cheap Dell, you may have problems, but you can say that about any product line. This particular unit is somewhere between the mid- to high-end, on the high-end of the scale - so don't worry about reliability. If you are concerned about that, just get the 3 year warranty and let Dell sort out any problems. I doubt you'll have any, unless you get a one-up dud...but if you do, they'll fix it for the first year at a minimum.
Hope this helps, and enjoy whichever new system you decide to get!
