Right what you need to do is open device manager. Select the yellow hardware and right click. now select options. this will open a window. now select details. now in the drop down menu select device ID. this will populate the area bello with a code. Hightlight the code with your mouse and copy it. Now paste it into google. search google for the relivent code and it will display the drivers you need for this hardware. download install and enjoy. Points to note with some HP products you need to install the drivers ni a certain order. Normally its chipset, ethernet controller VGA, then sound.

You need to find out the make and model number of your Motherboard if you have intergrated Audio or If you have a Sound card you need to find out the make and model number of that and look for the Audio drivers on the Net.

2 Options……….
1) UPGRADE to the new OS, windows 7. Doing a fresh install will fix all your problems……and yes……ITS WAY BETTER THAN XP AND VISTA!!!!
2) Download the Creative Driver or the HD Audio Driver for your particular HP from HP.com
Personally, the best option I could recommend to you is upgrading to Windows 7

my guess is your laptop being not very old, has a sata interface, but xp didn’t make sata drivers, so go beyond hp’s site, search online for xp pro sata drivers to install. There may be a chance that your motherboard has sata drivers also, search that if the other comes up blank, or maybe they gave you a motherboard cd and you haven’t run it?
