What Happened To My Laptop’s Dvd?
After I burned a file using Nero Essentials, the burn failed and after that my dvd can’t read anything or always empty even though I already inserted a disc. I tried updating the driver but to no avail it’s the same.
My dvd-rw is Optiarc dvd-rw ad-7560A and my laptop is a Compaq Presario C700.
Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

First, remove that blank DVD or CD, then turn off the computer. Turn it back on, and try a CD or DVD that was prepared commercially to see if your DVD drive still works. (take the time to inspect for dust or dirt on the lens).
If that works, then try to burn a CD-R with your Nero Essentials.
Then step ahead and try to burn a DVD, but use a different blank than what you tried before… the whole trouble may have started with a BAD DVD blank.
Good luck

You can uninstall the the drive (DVD) then reboot the PC. It’ll automatically detect new hardware and install the necessary drivers ect. Also go to devece manager and see how its configured there, working properly ect, drivers and so forth.

Try cleaning the optical lens of your CD/DVD drive with a DVD lens cleaner. If this does not work, may be it’s damaged and it’s time to get a new one.
