Why Won’t My Laptop Stay Connected To The Internet?
I have a HP compaq nx6325, and it won’t stay connected to a protected network. It will be fine with a network without a password, though. When I connect, it will just keep reconnecting and won’t stop.
I have SP3 and updating the wifi driver doesn’t work.

I have seen this, but nobody admits that it is a problem. I have come to the conclusion that there is something going on in windows that causes the wi-fi driver to not respond in time to an encrypted message, or it misses a change in the session key, and it gets dropped.
I have rebuilt machines that work fine until I get the latest SP applied and all of the software loaded. Then it starts having problems. I have not had the problem with my Thinkpad, but I have seen it happen on Acers and other brands. Not usually an HP, but they have been slacking in quality since they bought our Compaq …. at least on some of their lines.
I have also observed that it happens more often during internet game play, such as with World of Warcraft. From what I have seen, it seems to happen when the machine is particularly busy.
I don’t have a cure. It isn’t the proximity to the wireless, and it isn’t the brand of wireless since I have seen these things happen on different laptops and different wireless routers.
One thing I think that might help is to use WPA instead of WEP. That seems to help.
